State of Georgia Pulaski County On the thirteenth Nov 1820 personally appeared in open court being a court of record for the district of Georgia and county aforesaid John Bennett age not correctly ascertained but under seventy Ann Bennett his wife aged seventy years and as for property nothing but a bed and furniture nor has any other person in trust for me any property or securities contracts or debts due to me nor have I any income other than what is contained in this schedule hereto annexed and by me subscribed my occupation has been a hatter but now too infirm to follow the same And I enlisted in the service of the United States on the first day of March in the year 1776 for the term of on month in the State of New Jersey and in the company commanded by Capt William Cocks in the regiment commanded by by Colo. David Freeman[?] in the line of the State of New Jersey on the continental establishment I continued to serve in the said corps untill I was discharged from the said service in the regiment of Colo. Freeman and in the State of New Jersey I then enlisted for the term of six months under Capt Benjamin Fennamore in Genl. Freeman's Brigade and in the line of the State of New Jersey on the continental establishment and I was continued in said corps untill I was discharged from the service of the Brigade of Gen Freeman after the Battles fought at Prinston & Trenton and on the 25th of March 1777 I was enlisted in the third regiment of the New Jersey Blues under Colo. Israel Thirvy [?] in Capt John Hollandshead's company for and during the war and served in that regiment until the 30th November 1779 and then I took the Rheumatism which incupasitated me for marching consequently I was [the word "discharged" is lined through] advised by a doctor to go to sea for my health On the 1st March 1780 I was shipped on board the enterprise privateer under Capt Gardiner for a four months cruize and then I shipped on the General Greene and remained on her untill she was lost at Cape May And after that I was no more in the United States Services N.B. I was in the Battle of Brandywine and in Battle of Germantown and Battle of Monmouth. I have also recd one years pension from the United States Ending on the 4th September 1819.
