Date of Death not given.] John Barry enlisted, date and place not given, for the term of three years, served as private in Captain Cunningham's company, Colonel Elbert's 2nd Georgia Regiment; again enlisted at Rogers' Fort, above August, served under Lieutenant Baugh and Captain Smith and was in the battles of Brier Creek, Stone Ferry, Ogeechee, and Savannah in which he was taken prisoner, placed on a British prison ship from which he made his escape (length of captivity not shown), joined General Wayne's army and was discharged at the expiration of his term of enlistment. The soldier was allowed pension on his application executed April 23, 1819, at which time he was aged sixty-six years and a resident of Pulaski County, GA. In 1881, John Barry (or Berry) was residing in Richland District, South Carolina and stated that his family then residing with him consisted of his wife, two children (both young women) and a grandchild, aged three years. The names of his wife and children were not given. In 1824, the soldier moved to Fairfield District, South Carolina.
