P. Jelks was hostess at a delightful 42 party Monday afternoon in honor of Miss Floretta Sommer, a bride-elect of the week Throughout the house there were stately palms and foliage plants. Holiday decorations prevailed, all decorative details being in red and green. The games were played in rooms bright and fragrant with American Beauty roses and red carnations. There were nine tables of 42. The score cards were attractive with holly and poinsettia designs. The cards with which the tables were numbered were hand- painted with sprays of holly and mistletoe. During the game red and green mints were served from small green baskets with decorations of red. Misses Lucy Coney, Emma Caldwell, and Mrs. R. G. Stone made the highest score and cut for the prize. Mrs. Stone being the fortunate winner. The prize was a hand-embroidered handkerchief. The guest of honor was presented with a piece of white silk lingerie. After the game a delicious salad course with hot coffee was served. The hostess was assisted in entertaining by her sisters, Mrs. H. D. Knowles, Mrs. R. W. Batts, and Miss Faustine Smith. Mrs. Jelks was charming in a gown of apricot crepe de chine and silver lace bordered with brown fur. Miss Floretta Sommer wore a handsome afternoon toilet of blue silk Aeolian with Persian trimmings and gold thread lace. Miss Smith wore a beautiful costume of crimson velvet combined with chiffon. Mrs. Knowles’ gown was black crepe de chine with Persian trimming. Mrs. Batts wore blue charmeuse and white lace with an exquisite corsage bouquet of orchids and lilies of the valley. Those present were: Misses May Caldwell, Reba Jordan, Carolyn Jordan, Agnes Brown, Virginia Jelks, Pearl Rudich, Maggie Coleman, Adeline Fleischman, Lucy Coney, Martha Brown, Elsie Ragan, Grace Ragan, Hattie Watts, Mable Fitzgerald, Nettie Ginsberg, Helen Michael, Sallie Frank Thompson, Lorena Waller, Josephine Fleming, Misses Smith, Misses Sommer, Misses Jelks, Miss Carey of Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. R. G. Stone, Mrs. A. S. Ware, Mrs. W. W. Poole, Mrs. Joe Fleischman, Mrs. S. E. Richards, Mrs. J. K. Livingston, Mrs. H. D. Knowles, Mrs. R. W. Batts, Mrs. J. B. Glover, Mrs. H. H. Whitfield, Mrs. M.
