(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net December 2, 2012, 2:07 pm The Macon Telegraph 3-17-1939 Page 2 CARROLL BURIED AT BLUFF CREEK Hawkinsville Man Died in Local Private Hospital of Wreck Injuries Funeral services for Joe Brown Carroll, 28, Hawkinsville, who died in a private hospital here Tuesday night of burns suffered in a truck wreck, were held at Bluff Creek church near Hawkinsville yesterday. The Rev. Simon Anderson officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. A truck in which Carroll was riding overturned near Kathleen Tuesday and he died in Oglethorpe private infirmary here that night. Carroll and David Peavy, also of Hawkinsville, were on the lumber truck en route to Macon. It overturned on the side of an embankment and burst into flames. Carroll was pinned under the truck, investigators reported. Peavy freed his companion from the truck and suffered burns about the hands in the rescue. Survivors include the young man's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Carroll; two brothers, Watson and Luther Carroll; six sisters, Mrs. Joe Smith, Mrs. H. C. Brown, Mrs. David Peavy, Misses Lula, Eunice, and Rubie Carroll, all of Pulaski County. Additional Comments: Joe was born abt 1911 to Caskin B. Carroll and Mattie "Mollie" Williams Carroll.
