The Macon Telegraph Macon, Bibb County, Georgia Tuesday, February 27, 1917 Page Ten Mortuary Notice: P. H. LOVEJOY. HAWKINSVILLE, Feb 26 -- P. H. Lovejoy, one of the most prominent citizens in this section, died at his home yesterday from a stroke of paralysis. He was 68 years old. The funeral will take place today at 2:30 p.m. He was one of the organizers and a trustee of the local public school for fifteen years. He also helped to organize and was a director at the time of his deathh in the Planters bank of this city. He was an active member of the board of stewards of the Methodist church here. He was mayor of Hawkinsville for ten years, retiring of his own accord. He hd been actively engged in the mercantile business for over forty years. He is survived by the following children: Miss Hallie Lovejoy, Mrs. R. J. Twitty, Mrs. M. H. Boyer and Mrs. Kate I. Watts, of this city, and Mrs. John I. Anderson, of St. Louis, and Thomas E. Lovejoy, of New York city. Additional Comments: Compiler Notes: Pleasant Harrison Lovejoy was from Jasper County, Georgia and was born 31 July 1843 and died 25 Feb 1917 in Hawkinsville, Pulaski County, Georgia. He married 1st. Henrietta McKenzie she was born 19 Apr 1853 in Montezuma, Macon County, Georgia and died 28 Mar 1898. P. H. Lovejoy and other member of his family are buried in the Lovejoy Lot, Sec: L. of Orange Hill Cemetery in Hawkinsville, Georgia. He was a Confederate Veteran having served in Co "C" 12 Regt AL. Cavalry, CSA. His 2nd wife was Mattie Wimberly Napier she was born 1 May 1851 and died 9 Feb 1911.
