No. 8, Thursday Morning, 24 Feb. 1887: Mr. James A. J. Phillips died at his home near Hartford, in this county, on Thursday night last, February 17th. The deceased was sverely afflicted having had his leg broken several years ago by the running away of his horses, and afterward he lost his eyesight completely. He was not only crippled and blind, but hd partly lost hs sense of hearing. The remains was buried in the cemetery in Hawkinsville. Additional Comments: Compiler Notes: Note spelling should be Philips. He was buried next to his wife Mary Elizabeth Drake Philips who died 13 Feb 1875. Both are buried in Sec: L., Philips Lot, Orange Hill Cemetery, Hawkinsville, Pulaski County, Georgia.
