REV REDDING POPE DEAD.
   In apparently robust health and with the prosect of years of usefulness 
before him, Rev. Redding Pope, 70 years of age, died suddenly at his home near 
Pope’s Church, Wilcox County, last Monday.  Deceased was hauling hay from his 
field when summons came without warning.  On Sunday, the day preceding his 
death, Mr. Pope performed the ceremony that united in marriage Mr. Nathan 
Bruce and Mrs. Winnie Owens  -- Abbeville Chronicle


Additional Comments:
Rev, Redding Pope was born: 20 Aug 1822 and Died 1 Nov 1897.  He was buried at 
Pope's Church later to become Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church located near 
Finleyson.  His wife was Maragret Minchew.
