Putnam County, Deed Book O, page 306

Georgia                 }  This Indenture made the fourth day of September
Putnam County           }   in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred & thirty 
five between Nicholas Tompkins of the county of Heard of the one part & Ann 
Smith, of the County of Putnam of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said 
Nicholas for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars in hand 
paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt 
whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold aliened conveyed 
and  confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien convey and 
confirm unto the said Ann her heirs and assigns all that parcel of land lying 
in said county, containing one hundred acres more or less adjoining Moses 
Presley, Green Allen & Isham Brooks whereon Robert Bain formally  lived.  To 
have and to hold the said land with all and singular the rights members and 
privileges and appurtenances thereof whatsoever to the said premises belonging 
or in any wise appertaining with the remainder and remainders, reversion and 
reversions, rents,  issues and profits thereof; to the only proper use benefit 
and behoof of him the said Ann his heirs executors administrators and assigns 
in fee simple: and the said Wm. H. Huff her heirs executors and administrators, 
doth warrant and will forever defend the premises hereby conveyed unto the said 
Ann her heirs, executors, administrators and assigns against the lawful claim 
of the said Nicholas Tompkins his heirs executors and administrators and all 
and every other person or persons whomsoever by virtue of these presents.  In 
Witness whereof the said Nicholas Tompkins hath hereunto set his hand and seal 
the day and year above written.
