Putnam County, Deed Book C, pages 113 – 114

State of Georgia    }  This Indenture Made and entered into this 
Putnam County      }  nineteenth day of November, Eighteen hundred and twelve 
between George L. Bird of the one part, and Giles Tompkins of the other part, 
both of the County & State aforesaid Witnesseth that the said George L. Bird 
for and in consideration of the sum of Two thousand dollars to him in hand paid 
by the said Giles Tompkins, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath 
granted bargained and sold, unto the said Tompkins a certain tract or parcel of 
land containing one hundred & five acres more or less, whereon said Bird now 
lives, it being part of lot No. One hundred and thirty two, in the fourth 
district of Baldwin when surveyed now Putnam County, Bounded as followeth viz.  
Beginning on a pine corner on Robert Walker’s line, running North forty five 
East Twenty five chains & fifty links to a hickory corner thence South forth 
five chain on Johnson’s line to a Red Oak corner, thence South Forty five west. 
Twenty five chain and fifty links to a lightwood Stake corner thence North 
forty five West forty five chain to the beginning for & in consideration of the 
above sum of money two thousand dollars I the said George L Bird do warrant and 
defend the said Premises to Giles Tompkins his heirs and assigns forever In 
witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal.
