Putnam County, Deed Book C, page 113

Georgia                  }  This Indenture Made and entered into this thirtieth 
Putnam County      }  day of September in the year eighteen hundred and twelve, 
between Curry Butler of the one part, and Giles Tompkins of the other part  
Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to 
me in hand paid by the said Giles Tompkins, the receipt whereof is hereby 
acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and Sold, a certain tract or parcel of 
land, containing one hundred one and a quarter acres more or less whereon said 
Butler now lives, it being part of lot one  hundred & seven in the fourth 
district of old Baldwin now  Putnam County, beginning on a pine corner running 
North forty five West Twenty two, and a half chains to a Post Oak corner, 
thence North forty five East forty five chains to a White Oak corner thence 
South Forty five east, Twenty two and a half chains to a black oak corner 
Thence South forty five west, Forty five chain to the beginning for and in 
consideration of the above sum of (money) two hundred dollars to me in hand 
paid by the said Tompkins, the said Butler doth warrant and defend the right of 
said premises to the said Tompkins, his heirs & against the claim of all 
persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal the 
day & year above written --.
