Putnam County, Deed Book P, page 242

Georgia                    }  This Indenture made this Eighth day of
Muscogee County    }  October in the Year of our lord one thousand eight 
hundred and thirty eight between Mary Tarlton and William A Luckey of the State 
and County aforesaid of the one part and Giles Tompkins of the County of Putnam 
and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the Said Mary Tarlton and 
William A Luckey  for and in consideration of one hundred and fifty dollars to 
them in hand paid at & before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the 
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained Sold & conveyed & 
does by these presents grant bargain Sell & Convey unto the Said Giles Tompkins 
his heirs and assigns all that or (sic) parcel of land Situate lying and being 
in the (4) fourth district of Putnam County in Said State Known in the plan of 
Said district by lot (No 139) number One hundred and thirty nine Containing 
(50) Fifty acres more or less To have and to hold Said tract or parcel of land 
unto him the Said Giles his heirs & assigns together with all and Singular the 
rights members & appurtenances thereof to the Same in any manner belonging to 
his & their own proper use benefit and behoof forever in fee simple
And the Mary Tarlton and William A Luckey for themselves their heirs executors 
and administrators the Said bargain premises unto the Said Giles Tompkins his 
heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof 
against themselves and against the Claim of all persons whatever In Witness 
whereof the Said Mary Tarlton and William A Luckey have hereunto Set their 
hands and Seals the day & Year above written

Putnam County            }   I William A Luckey do certify that the within 
described land was the property of Jesse Vasser deceased it being part of the 
within named lot which joins the within named Tompkins and the within Mary 
Tarlton was before marring was Mary Vasser and that she together with myself 
was the proper heir this the 15th day of October 1838
