All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beth Collins collins@negia.net December 8, 2003, 10:44 am Lots 153 & 139, 2nd District Written: March 5 1811 Recorded: August 14 1813 Putnam County, Deed Book C, page 201 - 202 Georgia This Indenture made this the fifth day of March, In the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and eleven between William Varner Esquire Sheriff of the County of Putnam and the State aforesaid of the one part and Giles Tompkins of the County of Putnam and State aforesaid of the other part of the one part Witnesseth, that the said William Varner esquire for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and twenty dollars to him in hand well and truly paid, at or before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said William Varner doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold, and by these presents (and by virtue of the powers in him vested as Sheriff aforesaid, and of three executions two issuing out of the Inferior Court of the County aforesaid, in the State aforesaid & one in favor of Charles Bullock, and dated the eleventh day of December in the year eighteen hundred & nine, and one in favor of Thomas Napier Guardian & bearing date the eleventh day of December, in the year Eighteen hundred & ten and One execution from the Superior Court of Putnam County in the State aforesaid, in favor of Donald McIver, and bearing date on the thirteenth day of March in the year Eighteen hundred & ten) doth bargain & Sell unto the said Giles Tompkins, his heirs & assigns all that tract, or part of Two lots of land, containing Two hundred & Fifty two and one half acres it being lot No. 153 in the second district of Putnam County Containing two hundred two and one half acres, and part of lot number One hundred and thirty nine, in the aforesaid district, Containing fifty acres, whereon John Whitehead now lives and this day sold at public sale or outcry under the executions aforesaid, and the said Giles Tompkins being the highest and best bidder was knocked off to him at the price or the sum of three hundred and twenty Dollars. To have and to hold forever, in as full and ample manner as the same was held by the said John Whitehead In witness whereof the said William Varner esquire Sheriff aforesaid hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year above written Sealed and delivered in presence of Stephen W.
