Putnam County, Deed Book O, pages 235 - 236

Georgia                  }  This Indenture made & entered into between
Putnam Count        }  John Tompkins of the state & county aforesaid of one 
part & Nicholas Tompkins of the State & county aforesaid of the other part. 
Witnesseth that the said John Tompkins for and in consideration of three 
hundred & eighty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Nicholas Tompkins the 
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said John Tompkins doth grant, 
bargain & sell unto the said Nicholas Tompkins a certain tract or parcel of 
land containing one hundred forty one & a fourth acres of land more or less 
situated in the County of Putnam it being the North West half of lot No ninety 
eight & forty acres of the South West side of lot No ninety seven in the fourth 
district of Baldwin when surveyed adjoining B Smith & L Boswell The said John 
Tompkins his heirs & assigns doth warrant & defend the right of said land unto 
the said Nicholas Tompkins his heirs & assigns forever in fee simple  In 
Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this 13th day of 
April 1832

   John Bryan

Georgia                     }Personally appeared before me J B Ghent & John 
Bryan & after being sworn deposeth & saith that they were subscribing witnesses 
to the within deed of Conveyance & saw John Tompkins assign the within deed of 
Conveyance for the within Consideration & purpose
