All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beth Collins collins@negia.net December 10, 2003, 12:44 pm Lot 99, 4th District, Putnam County Written: December 5 1809 Recorded: September 10 1810 Putnam County, Deed Book B, page 57 Georgia } This Indenture made this fifth Day of December In the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred & nine between William Varner Esquire Sheriff of the County of Putnam & State aforsd. of the one part and Giles Tompkins of the County aforesaid & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Varner Esquire for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to him in hand well and truly paid at or before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof the said William Varner doth hereby acknowledge hath Granted Bargained & sold and by these presents (and by virtue of the powers in him vested as Sheriff aforesaid and of an Execution issuing out of Superior Court of the County of Putnam in the State aforesaid bearing date the first Day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & nine on wherein Giles Tompkins plaintiff and Hendrick Lumpkin Defendant) doth bargain and Sell unto the said Giles Tompkins his Heirs and assigns all that tract or lot of land situate lying and being in the fourth district Baldwin now Putnam Count, No. 99 bounded by lot No. 77 lot No. 100 & lot 98 whereon James Echols resides containing two hundred two and one half acres and this Day sold at public Sale or outcry under the Execution aforesaid and the said Giles Tompkins being the highest and best bidder was Knocked off to him at the price or Sum of four hundred dollars to have and to hold the said lot of land unto the said Giles Tompkins and his Heirs and Assigns forever in as full and ample manner as it was held by the said Hendrick Lumpkin In witness whereof the said William Varner Esquire Sheriff aforesaid hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his Seal the Day & year first above written Sealed & Delivered In presence of Edwd.
