State of Georgia    }  This Indenture made and entered into this thirty
Putnam County      }  first day of December  Eighteen hundred and Sixteen 
between Giles Tompkins of the one part and Mattox Mays of the other part  
Witnesseth that the said Giles Tompkins for and in consideration of the sum of 
fifty dollars to him in hand paid by the said Mays have granted, bargained and 
sold a certain tract or parcel of land containing fifty acres more or less it 
being part of Lot Number two hundred and six in the fourth district of Baldwin 
County when surveyed now  Putnam County begining at a red oak corner on the 
North West side of said Lot running North forty five east twenty two and a half 
chain to a pine corner thence South forty five East thirty three chain to 
Spanish oak corner thence South forty five West Seven Chains no corner made 
thence a Straight line to the beginning Corner together with all its 
appurtenances thereunto belonging and I the said Giles Tompkins will warrant 
and forever defend the rights of the above bargained premises to the above 
mentioned Mattox Mays his heirs and assigns forever.   In witness thereof I set 
my hand and seal.
