All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beth Collins collins@negia.net December 10, 2003, 8:01 pm Lot 133, 4th District, Putnam County Written: December 8 1812 Recorded: September 16 1814 Putnam County, Deed Book C, pages 292 - 293 Georgia This Indenture made and entered into this eighth Day of December in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred & twelve between James Maxwell of Morgan County & State aforesaid one part, and Giles Tomkins of Putnam County & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand dollars to me in hand paid by the said Tomkins the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained & sold a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred one & a fourth acres, more or less, being part of lot No one hundred and thirty three in the fourth district of Baldwin when surveyed now Putnam County granted to the Said James Maxwell bounded as follows, beginning at a red oak corner joining Mrs. Price’s running North forty-five East forty five chain to a red oak corner; thence South forty five East seventeen chain to a stake corner; thence running on Finley’s line South fifty three west fifteen chain to a red oak corner near the head of a spring; thence down the said branch leaving out the spring to a Poplar corner on the said branch; thence South forty five East to a stake corner; thence South forty five west to a Spanish Oak corner on Ogletrees line, thence North forty five west to the beginning corner For and in consideration of the above sum of one thousand Dollars I the said James Maxwell doth warrant and defend the said Premises to Giles Tomkins his Heirs and Assigns forever against the claims of all persons whatsoever In witness whereof I have set my hand & Seal the day & date above written Signed sealed & delivered in presence of James Maxwell Wm Whitfield Jonathan Mosely Georgia } This day William Whitfield came before me & made Putnam County } oath that he was a subscribing witness to the within deed; and that he saw James Maxwell assign & acknowledge the same; and also saw Jonathan Mosely assign the same as a subscribing witness.
