All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: John Simmons http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00030.html#0007486 October 6, 2022, 10:15 pm United States Written: January 12, 1813 Recorded: February 25, 1813 Georgia Putnam County This indenture made and agreed to this 12th day of January One thousand eight hundred and thirteen between Alexander Reid of the County of Putnam of the one part and Robert Simmons of the same county and state witnesseth that the aforesaid Alexander Reid for an in consideration of one hundred dollars to him in hand paid, hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the aforesaid Robert Simmons forty three and one half acres of land on the waters of Glady Creek beginning on a Post Oak corner and running N 45 W thirty three chains & fifty links to a hickory corner thence S 48 W 10 chains to a stake corner thence S 40 E 35 chains to a pine corner thence N 45 W 5 chns 14 links to the beginning corner, it being a part of a lot of land drawn by Peas ? in the plan of the first land lottery by number 28 in the fourth District of Baldwin County at the time of surveying bounded on the east by Cawls land and on the north by Watkins' land the aforesaid forty three and a half acres with all the rights and privileges doth warrant unto him the aforesaid Robert Simmons his heirs his Executors and Administrators forever from him the aforesaid Alexander Reid his heirs Executors, Administrators, and assigns will warrant and defend. In witness whereof the aforesaid Alexander Reid hath hereunto set his hand and seal the Day first written Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Samuel Cowles John Reid (signed by) Alexander Reid seal Additional Comments: Putnam County, Georgia Deed Book C page 123 Samuel Cowles was a witness to those that signed the deed record and appeared in court. transcribed as accurate as I can. A few words not clear to me one is after the name Peas. This could be Pees from a list of fortunate drawers in the 1805 land lottery. The 4th district of Baldwin was partly in Putnam and part was in Morgan later.
