BPerk930@aol.com June 27, 2006, 11:31 am Pension Application War of 1812 Declaration of Soldier for Pension State of Mississippi County of Union On this 14th day of August A.D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy one, personally appeared before me G. Wiley Clerk of the Chancery Court, a Court of Record within and for the county and State aforesaid, Stephen Willson, aged 85 years, a resident of Bulah, County of Union State of Mississippi, who, being duly worn according to law, declares that he is married; that his wife's name was Julia F. Acles, to whom he was married at Aberdeen Monroe Co. Miss in 1836; that he served the full period of sixty days in the (1) milluty [sic] service of the Untied States in the war of 1812; that he is the identical Stephen Willson who (2) was drafted in Captain Mintons company, Thoma's [sic] regiment, Flouid [I think] brigade, unknown division, at Eateton [sic] Putnam Co. Ga, in the Spring of 1812, and was honorably discharged at Savannah Ga. in the fall or winter of 1812; that (3) my Regt was ordered from Eaton Putnan [sic] Co. Ga to Savannah GA, was [sic] was in camps then for some time then we was orderd out to meet the British a short distance below Savannah - but - we was in no actual engagement that I now can remember - lost my dischage if any was even given to me - drew some land from the U.S. 23 or 24 years ago. [Stephen Wilson made his mark on the document and appointed Richard McAllister of Washington D. C. as his attorney. Witnesses to the document were Walter B. Butt and W. D. Wiley.] Additional Comments: I was unable to find Bulah Miss. on a map, but I just found this on the Union Co. Rootsweb site: Beulah Post Office - this post office was in Tippah County up until 1874 when it became a part of Union County's Postal records. The name of this office was changed to Myrtle in 1888.
