News Gleaned From Georgia

News has been received in Atlanta of the death of Calhoun Reid, father-in-law of
William H. Burwell, Speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives, at his home
in Eatonton, Ga.  Mr. Reid was a member of one of the most prominent families of
that section of the state and had been tax collector of Putnam County, of which
Eatonton is the county seat, for 21 years.
