TRANSCRIPT OF MARRIAGE RECORD: Putnam County, GA Marriage Book A, page 199 
contains the following record: 

To any ordained Minister of the Gospel, Judge, Justice of the Inferior Court, 
or Justice of the Peace, to celebrate and return to this office — You are 
hereby authorized to join together in the holy Estate of Matrimony WILLIAM 
HARDIN and SALLY BRAVER — Provided they are of lawful age and not within the 
Levitical degrees. Given under my hand at office this 17th day of October 
1815 — Coleman Pendleton. 

Executed this 9th November 1815 by Henry Dixon, J.P. 

(DEFINITION: Levitical degrees = degrees of kindred within which persons are 
prohibited to marry. They are set forth in the 18th chapter of Leviticus —
