W. HUDSON WILL GEORGIA PUTNAM COUNTY In the name of God amen. I, Lewellyn W. Hudson, being of sound mind disposing memory do for the purpose of disposing of the _____________ as I may die ___________________ do make and ordain this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others made by me. Item 1st I give my soul to God who gave it to me, my body to its mother earth. Item 2nd I give unto my beloved wife Eliza P. Hudson my plantation in this county, my house and lot in Eatonton, horse and carriage, all of my household and kitchen furniture on said lot in Eatonton, one third of the stock of every kind on my plantation in this county, the following horses, a horse by the name of Braddock, Dobbin, Black Rick and a mule I bought of Major Wilkum (Milkum??), also corn fodder enough to support her and plantation one year also a sufficiency of pork for one year and the following named negroes, Snicky, Arilla, Edmund, Louiza, and her then children, Stepenay, Charlotte, Elva, Frances, Pleasant, Handy, Mariah and Jack, also five hundred dollars in money. I also loan her until Sarah Eliza becomes of age or marries my negro boy George. Should Sarah Eliza die before becoming of age or marrying then she is to give up George in ten years from the date of this will to her and her heirs forever. Also Polly and her two children, also Primay and Molly. Item 3rd In consideration of th elong and faithful services of my negro man Tom, I request that my brother Irby Hudson may take him at such a valuation as may be placed upon him by executors he paying the money together with the lawful interest on it at the time others of my children become of age or marries. I request an ______________ for him to take the negro that a law valuation may be paid upon him. Item 4th Beside the other property to be given to my daughter Sarah Eliza I give her the boy George alluded to above, also a negro girl by the name of Mary, daughter of Agga. Item 5th Beside the other property to be given I given my daughter Anna Martha, a negro boy by the name of Mitchell and a negro by the name of Margaret daughter of Agga. Item 6th Beside the property to be given I give my daughter Vrginia Frances a negro girl by the name of Elvira daughter of Polly. Item 7th Beside the property to be given I give my infant daughter not yet named a negro girl by the name of Patsy daughter of Polly. Item 8th I request my wife may take my negro woman Polly, her children Richmond and Griffin at a fair valuation. Item 9th I request all of property belonging to me, not dispend in any of the previous items to be sold at such times and under such circumstances as my executors may think best for the benefit of my children and to be equally divided between my four daughters viz Sarah Eliza, Anna Martha, Virginia Frances and the infant not yet named. My notes and every pieces of property whatever to be included in this division. I also request that the negroes may be sold in families, my debts I request be paid before any division be made of the proceeds of the sale of property mentioned in this ninth item. Item 10th I request my children to be raised agreeable to their _______ that they remain with their mother generally but their education and raising be left to the care and controll of my friend James M. Chambers, that endeavor to train themselves to make useful and respectable members of society and that he act as their guardian. Item 11th I request my friend James M. Chambers and my brother John Hudson act as my executors to this my last will and testament. Item 12th The money arising from the proceeds of the sale of my property to be loaned at such interest as can be from time to time had for it and not invested in said mad money such foolish stock. In testimony whereof I herein set my and to and affix my seal this the seventh day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five in presence of Irby H. Scott L. W. Hudson Woody Scott G. R. Thomas Codicil and attachment to my forgoing will bearing date the seventh day of July eighteen hundred and thirty five. Georgia Putnam County I, Lewellyn W. Hudson of the county and state the make of the forgoing will do hereby make addition to the Executors, those named nominate and appoint my brother Irby Hudson one of my executors for the purpose of carrying my said will into effect hereby giving him my said brother Irby Hudson all the power and authority to act as one of my executors as aforesaid as fully and effectively with those named in said will as if his name had been inserted in said will. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 31 May 1836 in presence of Samuel Slade Alexander S. Reid L. W. Hudson Sarah E. Adams This Codicil together with the will to which it is attached now duly proven in June court by the subscribing witnesses to the _________ this 11th day of July 1836 and Irby Hudson duly qualified as executor thereof.
