The credit for its excellent condition goes to Mr. Oscar Rivers. It is located on the County Line Road, off Highway 39 south. I have been told that a part of it lies in Clay County and a part of it is in Quitman County. The location is the site of the first St. James Church. Mrs. Henrietta Cobb, aged 80, said that as a small child she helped carry lunch to her father at this site. He, along with other men were working on the church roof. She does not know if they were building the church or reroofing an older building. Mrs. Annie M. Alexander "Cemeteries and Churches of Quitman County, Georgia" by Jacquelyn M.
