Shepard The Bragen Cemetery is located south of Morris, just past the Quitman County line. Take the paved road through Morris, staying on it until the pavement ends. Go straight on the dirt road to the top of the hill an take the first dirt road to the left. It is in back of a hunter's camp. Mr. Tommy Nolan BRAGEN CEMETERY James MORRIS b Apr. 21, 1806 d Aug. 2, 1856 "Behold the awful tomb of death, how solemn, silent, and how still and on it there looks one whose breath shall leave him at his Maker's will." B. B. SMILEY b Feb. 3, 1787 d. Sept. 15, 1856 "Upon the Covenant the Christian may rely, when called upon to die." I was told that many years ago you could look out over this hillside and see row after row of unmarked graves; now there are only pine trees. The two marked graves are in an iron railing fence with markers about six feet tall. Each has a large square base. James Morris was probably the man for whom Morris was named. His son was the first depot agent in this settlement. "Cemeteries and Churches of Quitman County, Georgia" by Jacquelyn M.
