It was led by James Frank Hogan and there were twenty- five charter members enrolled. A Church Covenant and the Articles of Faith were adopted, also the name of Liberty Baptist was chosen. J. Frank Hogan was elected and ordained as the first Deacon and the Reverend W. M. Howell was called to be the first pastor. John Walker was elected church clerk and a building committee was appointed. The land for the church building was a gift from Elam A. Whitaker. The church house was erected in the spring of 1890 and was dedicated in June of 1890. The first Bible to be used in the church was a gift from Mrs. Lou Hogan Tye. Among the charter members were: the Hogans, Avras, Barretts, Brewers, Bennetts, Amersons, Brooks, Conways, Etherages, Graddys, Jowers, Kaiglers, Lowerys, and Mosleys. This church house that was built in 1890, has seen many people dedicate their lives to God, yet remains open and although the membership is small, services continue to be held every Sunday.
