The Missionary Union Singing Convention The Missionary Union Singing Convention was organized around 1898, with the delegations of three churches: Morris First Baptist, Mt. Zion, and Berry Chapel. Now there are nine churches in the Singing Convention. The familles that were the most responsible for the setup of the Convention were: the Greens, the Beckmans, the Lees, the McCarthys, the McCrays, and the Whites. There have been five presidents of the Convention. They are: Brother Clarence McCarthy of Mt. Zion Church, Brother Sam Davenport of Midway Church, Brother Ben Lee of Morris First Baptist Church, Brother Ruben Davenport of Midway Church, and Brother Sammie Davenport. The Convention has had four secretaries. They are: Brother Blanda McCarthy of Mt.
