About 1873 the membership of the church moved o the Lumpkin-Georgetown Road into a log cabin type building and church was held here for about ten years. It was then decided to erect a new building. Some of the early members were: Woods, Coffin, Avra, Rice, Key, Dismuke, Owens, Lewis, Davidson, Kimble, Whitaker, and Mathias. Camp McGehee was organized in 1897 on ten acres of land adjoining the church property. During the camp meeting season tents were erected and services were attended by people from all around the area. The land for the church building was deeded from John Whitaker to the church trustees: A. H. Wood, J. C. Hill and James A. Avra. The land for the camp meeting ground was deeded to the trustees: John Whitaker, James Tye, John B. McGehee, Louis Wilkerson and Reverend C. W. Snow by John Whitaker Jr. Around 1971 the church was closed as there were not enough members to continue as so many people have left the county and moved from the area. The old church building was purchased by Sam Singer from Lumpkin, Georgia and was torn down and used in the repair of other old buildings at Westville. The Cuthbert Times Quitman Co.
