JOHNS A.M.E. CHURCH St. Johns A.M.E. Church was organized at Morris, Georgia, in the middle 1800's. It is not known if meetings were first held in a bush arbor as they were in many of the churches in the area. The first pastor was the Reverend E. M. Roberts from Shellman, Georgia. His officers were: Jim Billings, Adam Shingles, John Davis and Edgar Ware. The church was in operation until the merger with two other churches in 1976. The old church building still stands.
