Georgetown, GA., July 1. - On Wednesday night last, at the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs. Mary R. Jordan, in Georgetown, occurred the marriage of her daughter, Emmie Julia, to Dr. Thomas Harrison Thurmond of Dawson, Rev. Dr. J. H. Scruggs officiating. The home was a scene of beauty, the parlor and dining room being decorated with white roses, palms and rare potted plants and the reception room with pink and green. At 9 o'clock, by the sweet strains of the wedding march, rendered by Mrs. McGinty, the bridal party entered the parlor, Mr. Chas. H. Arthur, the best man, and Miss Mamie Jordan, sister of the bride and maid of honor, preceding the bride and groom. The green background of high potted plants made an enchanted scene. The bride wore an exquisite white satin gown, trimmed with chiffon, pearl passementrie and orange blossoms, with a veil and Brides roses. The young and pretty maid of honor was stylishly costumed in a silk of blue and pink, trimmed in handsome cream lace, and carried pink roses. At 11 o'clock the guests - relatives and friends of the couple - were ushered into the spacious dining hall, where a sumptuous repast was served. Thursday Dr. and Mrs. Thurmond left for Forsyth to visit relatives of the groom before going to their home at Dawson. The bride is a young lady of lovely character, admired by all who know here, while Dr. Thurmond is one [of] the most prominent and popular dentists of southwest Georgia. The popularity of the couple was shown by the number of elegant and useful presents bestowed upon them.
