The crime is supposed to have been committed by Andrew Wilburn, whose illicit distillery was recently destroyed by the revenue officers. Wilburn suspected Joseph Crumpton of reporting his still. The fiend shot at Crumpton through his window at night with a Winchester rifle. The bullet passed through his side inflicting a slight wound and struck her heart and causing instant death. The crime was committed the night of the 13th Wilburn is still at large.
