Article in Edison Ga. newspaper J. C. Culbreth Killed in Crash Near Edison EDISON, Ga., Oct. 7.- Jack C. Culbreth, 64, was instantly killed at 6:30 p.m. yesterday on the paved road between Edison and Arlington, three and a half miles south of this city. Mr. Culbreth was returning to Edison with a truckload of peanuts and had stopped to fix his right rear tire when he was struck by a pickup truck driven by Charlie Bruner, who was traveling in the same direction, authorities said. Mr. Bruner, who operates the farm of H. E. Hammack a few miles south of Edison, was bringing his daughter, Miss Myrtle Brunner, to the train here to return to Andrew College, Cuthbert, where she is a student. She received a serious eye cut and Mr. Bruner suffered a severe scalp injury, which necessitated a number of stitches taken by a local physician. Mr. Brunner and his daughter are both confined to the hospital here. R. L. Jenkins of Edison, for whom Mr. Culbreth was hauling peanuts, was returning to Edison and was among the first to reach the scene of the accident and brought the men to town. The State Highway Patrol investigated. Mr. Culbreth was born and reared in Randolph County but for many years had lived here. His survivors include his wife and two sons, J.C. Culbreth, Jr.[incorrect] of Chipley, Fla., and Carlos Culbreth of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. T. L. Shaw of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mrs. T. F. Tarver of Decatur, Ga., two brothers, S.AQ. Culbreth of Edison and Bill Culbreth of Carnegie, and two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Nichols of Shellman and Mrs. Cliff Jordan of Rowena. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Edison Baptist church, of which Mr. Culbreth was a devout member. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Gordon Brooks, assisted by the Rev. J. G. Burgess of Dawson. Interment will follow in Carnegie Cemetery.
