Broad St. Geo. HUNT by Marshall to Wm. MORGAN District of Georgia This indenture made the thirteenth day of April in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight, between John GREEN, Marshal of the said district, Esquire of the one part and William MORGAN of Edgefield County, State of South Carolina, planter, of the other part. Whereas Chamberlain BIRCH and Charles OUVEY did lately in the Federal Circuit Court of the District of Georgia, obtain judgemnet against George HUNT and James STALLINGS for the sum of ten thousand two hundred and seventy two dollars, and also twenty nine dollars and fifty cents, for costs as will appear by record of the said court. And whereas a writ of Ve?ditions Epor?s hath issued on the said judgment directed to the marshal of the district aforesaid, commanding him that he should cause to be made of the goods and chattles, lands and tenements of the said George HUNT and James STALLINGS the aforesaid sum of money. And whereas the said John GREEN, deputy marshal of said district by virtue and in execution of said writ of Vendition Epona?s directed and delivered unto him did seize in execution and take into his custody and possesion, a certain lot or parcel of land lying and being in the City of Augusta in the state of Georgia aforesaid, containing in front on Broad Street fifty four feet, and in depth two hundred and seven feet, bouding southwardly by Broad Street, eastwardly by part of lot number (21) twenty one in possession of Harris MAHER & CO., northwardly by other part of said lot no. (21) twenty one [this was lined through - formerly the property of Charles HILL ? ? ???] belonging to Reuben COLEMAN dec'd and westwardly by another part of said lot no. (21) twenty one, formerly the property of Charles HILL, which said lot now sold is also a part of said lot number (21) twenty one, belonging to George HUNT one of the said deponents and after due and legal notice given, did set up and expose to sale the said lot of land and premises at public auction and the said William MORGAN being the highest and best bidder, the same was knocked off to him at and for the price and consideraiton herein after mentioned. Now this indenture witnesseth that the said John GREEN deputy marshal by virtue and in consequence of the said Writ of Vendition Eponas ~ and of the power and authority to him given for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen hundred and fifteen dollars, to him the said John GREEN in hand well and truly paid by the said William MORGAN, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, he the said John GREEN as deputy marshal aforesaid hath granted, bargained and sold, conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said William MORGAN his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns all the aforesaid lot or parcel of land being part of said lot number (21) twenty one, herein described as aforesaid together with all and singular the houses and improvements, rights, profits, priviledges and app?tenances whatsoever unto the said lot or parcel of land belonging and the reservations, remainders and profits thereof, and all the estate, right and interest property, claim and demands whatsoever both at law and as equity of the said George HUNT his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns and every of them. To have and to hold the said lot or parcel of land and all and singular other the premises above mentioned unto the said William MORGAN his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever.
