All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm *********************************************** State of Georgia, Richmond County Personally appeared before me, Abner Pope, who being duly sworn saith that he is about to bring to this State Six Negro Slaves who are field hands except the children towit Bob 21, Lucy 21, Patience 21, Joel 13, David 6 and John 1 year old that he is the true and lawful owner of said Slaves; and that they are about to be brought, imported or introduced into this State, for the sole purpose of being held to service and labor by him, his heirs, executors, administrators or legatees, and without any intent to sell, transfer, barter, lend, heir, mortgage, procure to be taken or sold under execution or other legal process, or in any other way or manner to alien or dispose of said Slaves, so as to vest the use or enjoyment of their labor or service in any other person or persons for the lives of the said Slaves, or for any other period of time, or in any other way or manner to defeat, avoid or elude the true intent and meaning of the act of the General Assembly of this State relative to the importation of Slaves therein.
