Staff Sergeant John B Spears, son of Mrs Esther B Spears of 216 Fifth Street, 
has been cited by the 338th Infantry Regiment of the 85th (Custer) Division and 
awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Spears earned this award by actual combat against the enemy with Lieutenant 
General Lucian K Turscott, Jr, Fifth Army in Italy.
