Fletcher dorothy010@ameritech.net June 19, 2005, 2:40 pm Augusta Chronicle February 21, 1937 Jack McDonough No young man has made a greater inpression upon the community during the short period that he has been a citizen of Augusta than Jack J. McDonough, sales supervisor of the Augusta office of the Georgia Power Company, who has just been promoted to sales supervisor in the Atlanta division. He will be succeeded by T.S. Davis, Jr., engineer in the lighting division of the power company in Atlanta, who comes to Augusta hightly recommended. We hope and believe that Mr. Davis will become popular here. Since joining the company in January, 1927, Mr. McDouough has served in mangerial and supervisory capacities throughout the system. First as an office clerk, he was made assistant manager of the Brunswick district in May 1928. He subsequently served as district manager in Dublin, Macon, and Douglas. He came to Augusta as district manager in April 1930. Two years later, he was appointed division sales manager. In April 1934, he was given the title of division sales supervisor and was placed in charge of all load-building activities here. When Jack McDonough came here from Atlanta seven years ago he almost immediatley became indentified prominently in the community life. As a civic worker he has been eager, willing and enthusiastic, and during the Community Chest campaign several months ago he was indefatigable in his zeal to put over the campaign just as he had aided in every worthwhile community endeavor. As a member of the Rotary Club he has been outstanding in its affairs and has shown high qualities of leadership in his professional capacity as a salesman for the Georgia Power Company and also from a civic standpoint. Jack McDonough has made hundreds of friends for the power company by his charming manner and his willingness to serve. Augusta regrets to give up this young man, who has won the hearts of a large portion of the community in his stay here of only seven years.
