All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beth Hemingway bmheming@bellsouth.net April 3, 2004, 11:54 am Augusta Chronicle Two Augustans Killed In Wreck Car Leaves Deans Bridge Road, Climbs Bank and Crashes into Tree Two Augustans were Killed, one instantly, yesterday afternoon about 5:30 o'clock when the automobile in which they were riding crashed into a pine tree on Deans Bridge road abou t 10 miles South of Augusta. They are Seth Hillman Holley, 929 Hill Street, who was killed instantly, and Arthur B (Buddie) Williamson, 1345 Walton Way, who died about an hour later in the emergency room of the University Hospital. Deputy Sheriff RW Holsonbake, who with Deputy RW King investigated the accident, said the automobile left the pavemet about 60 feet from the point where it crashed into the tree. The car climbed a seven foot embankment before crashing into the tree. Person who saw the car just before the accident said it was being driven at a very rapid rate of speed, Mr Holsonbake said. Coroner S Herbert Elliott said an inquest will be held prob ably some time today. Hospital records showed that Mr Williamson received head in juries, injuries to the arms and other parts of the body . He lived about 20 minutes after he was brought to the emergency room. Mr. Holley, who was the son of the late John Holley, was connected with the city streets and drains department. He was a native of Dearing, Ga, but had lived in Augusta virtually all his life. His residence address was 929 Hill street. He was a member of the Junior Order, United American Mechanics. He is survived by one brother, John Holley of Savannah; two sisters, Mrs Joseph Wickliff and Mrs. Minnie Tudor of Augusta and several nieces and nephew. Williamson, who lived at 1356 Walton Way, was the husband of Mrs Ruth Jones Williamson who survived him. Other survivors are one son, Arthur B. Williamson, Jr; father Arthur B. Williamson of Augusta; five brothers, Fred W. Williamson, Willie M Williamson, H.E. Williamson, George P Williamson and Clarence Williamson; six sisters, Mrs Edwin McMahon, Mrs Harvey Lee Hoffman, Mrs James Taylor, Miss Melinda Williamson and Miss Romans Williamson, and three aunts, Mrs C W Elliott, Mrs Fannie Williamson and Mrs Lula Ashley.
