The Augusta Chronicle
Born in 1889 and died March 21, 1961.
Jake (Jacob)Goodwin, husband of the late Mrs. Mattie Kitchens Goodwin, of 408 
Milledge Rd., died Tuesday night in a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Platt's Chapel. The Rev. 
Charles A. Vaughn will officiate. Interment will be in West View Cemetery.
A native of Saluda, SC., Mr. Goodwin, a textile worker, had resided in Augusta 
practically all his life. 
Pallbearers will be Edward Johnson, Rufus Holsonbake, Charles Deer, W.W. 
Holtzclaw, Albert Bennett and Charles Hood.
Mr. Goodwin, son of the late Jake Cauley and Loamie HUrt Goodwin, Saluda, SC.
Survivors are one son, James H. Goodwin of Augusta; daughter, Mrs. Elease 
Baber of Augusta; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
