Obituary for Dallas Joel Grimes
Harlem, GA – Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Dallas J. Grimes, U.S. Army, 79, husband 
of 61years of Joyce Wood Grimes, entered into rest on Wednesday, February 7, 
2018, at his home.
Funeral services were at 11:00 AM on Saturday February 10, 2018, at Harlem 
Baptist Church with the Reverends Keith Wood and Eric Wood officiating. 
Interment followed in the Clarke Cemetery, Lexington, Ga. with full Military 
Honors accorded. 
Mr. Grimes was born in Point Peter, Ga. to the late Mike and Beatrice Grimes and 
was a graduate of Augusta College. He retired from the US Army and was the 
recipient of numerous military awards. Mr. Grimes also retired from Civil 
Service of Fort Gordon and the C&S Bank. As a member of Harlem Baptist Church, 
he served on the Deacon Board and taught Sunday School.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Wood Grimes; his children, Angelynn Price 
(Rick), Michael Grimes (Debbie), Susan Boiter (David) and Laurie Dehil (Dennis); 
His siblings, Faye Kesler and Morris Grimes; Grandchildren, Amanda Asher (Mel 
King), Will Price, Joe Grimes, Ron Grimes, Paul Grimes (Rita), Jaclyn Watson 
(Evan), Matt Boiter, Mark Boiter (Carly Webber) and Zach Dehil (Amanda); Great 
grand-children, Lydia Watson, Kathleen Grimes and Olivia Dehil; and many nieces 
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Flora Swann.
Pallbearers will be members of the US Military Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers 
will be his grandson, Zach Dehil, Matt Boiter, Paul Grimes, Mark Boiter, Evan 
Watson, Will Price, Joe Grimes and Ron Grimes.
If so desired, memorials may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, 120 
15th Street F1-1000, Augusta, GA 30912 or the Heart and Vascular Center, c/o 
University Health Care Foundation, 2100 Central Avenue, Suite D-1, Augusta, GA 
30904.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at 
the funeral home.
