Atkinson County Citizen - October 20, 2014
Mr. Bruce Gurley, Sr., age 89, of Augusta, formerly of Atkinson County, passed 
away Friday, October 17,  2014, at his residence in Augusta following an 
extended illness.
 A native of Columbia County, Mr. Gurley was born September 25, 1925, to Emory 
and Ellen Baker Gurley. He  had made his home in Atkinson County for many years 
before moving  to Roswell, GA. He worked for many years in the insurance 
industry. He also served in the United States Army and retired after 26 years of 
service. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
 He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Gurley, as well as four brothers, 
Boyce Gurley, Clyde Gurley, Sr, Ware Gurley, Winfred, two infant sisters whose 
names are not known, and sister Willer Arnold.
 He is survived by two daught4ers, Debbi Jo Newman Newman and husband Danny of 
Augusta, and Linda Mullyany and family of McDonough; son Bruce Gurley, Jr. and 
wife, Debbie of Marietta; nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
 His final request was to be cremated, and his ashes will be spread in December 
6 at the Hiawassee State  Park in Hiawassee, GA.
