Sudden Death of JW Touchstone
Well Known Engineer Succumbed to Attack Which Seized Him While at Work
Mr JW touchstone, an engineer at the Perkins Manufacturing Company, died 
suddenly Tuesday morning at 8 o'clock, while engaged in work at the plant.  He 
had been at work only a short while, when he was taken desperately ill and 
expired in a few minutes.
The deceased was 71 years of age, and a Confederate Veteran.  He had been 
feeling badly several days, and was under the care of his physician, but was 
not considered seriously ill.  His death will be a great shock to many 
friends.  He was well known and liked by all who enjoyed his acquaintance.
The funeral service will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the 
Second Baptist Church, Rev OP Gilbert officiating, assisted by Rev Thomas 
Walker.  The interment will take place at the City Cemetery.  Members of Camp 
435, UCV, will attend the funeral in a body, and it is probable that the 
Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, of which he was a member, will do likewise.
The pallbearers will be Messrs Joseph Belding, EG Kalbrieisch, JH Heirs, AJ 
Hargrove, CB Inglett, and George W Crawford.
Mr Touchstone's survivors are his wife, Mrs Sallie F Touchstone; on son, Mr GE 
Touchstone of Spenser, NC; one daughter, Mrs HH Stewart, of Augusta; two 
brothers, Mr William T Touchstone, of Fountain Inn, SC, and Mr B Touchstone, of 
Augusta; also four sisters, Mrs Isabella Kent, Mrs Elizabeth Taylor, Mrs Irene 
Kelly and Mrs Caroline Mills, all of Augusta; also eight grandchildren.
