Ex-councilman, R.J. Wilkinson, Sr, dies at 83
Robert James Wilkinson, Sr, 83, former Augusta City Councilman, died Tuesday.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Elliott Sons Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Wilkinson served on the finance committee of the council and was traveling 
auditor for Southern Express Co.  He was also in the restaurant business.
A native of Richmond, Va, he came to Augusta prior to World War I.  He was a 
member of John S Davidson Masonic Lodge F&AM; and was a Scottish Rite Shriner, 
Knight Templar.  He was also a member of St John United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Robert James Wilkinson, Jr, North Augusta, and John 
Carswell Wilkinson, Hephzibah, Ga; and a sister, Mrs Clarence Curtis Sr, 
Chester, Va.
Friends may call at the residence of his son, Robert J Wilkinson Jr, North 
Augusta, or at the funeral home.
