Sept. 24. - Joe Hall, 59, husband of Mrs. Mary Hall and a well- known cosmetics agent of Dearing, was killed instanly early tonight when struck by a Georgia Highway truck as he crossed the Augusta-Atlanta Highway in front old McLeroy's filling station. Sheriff Lynn J. Norris of McDuffie County reported the truck, driven by a man identified as Luther H. Adcock of Cartersville, was passing another moving vehicle when the accident happened, knocking the pedestrian's body 60 feet. Adcock was charged with murder. No charge was placed against his companion Jack Morris, also of Cartersville. The truck had been to Richmond County to get a highway asphalt distributor to be used in Cartersville. Sheriff Norris said, quoting witnesses as saying that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of between 50 and 60 miles per hour. Listed as witnesses were W.E. Simons, J.H. Baggott, W.E. McElroy and Charlie Paul. Funeral arrangements had not been completed tonight and will be announced later by the S.A. Blanchard Funeral Home. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Leon Hall. Hall Victim of Wreck Dearing, Ga- Sept 25- Funeral services for William Joe Hall, who was killed instanly when struck by an automobile on Augusta-Atlanta Highway last night, will be held at Adams Chapel Church at three o'clock tomorrow afternoon with Rev. Hugh Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in the churchyard. Active pallbearers will be Barner Baggott, Farlie Axon, Charlie Tudor, Ernest Inglett, Wilbur Holloman, and Milton Washington. Mr. Hall was an active member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church and a native of Jefferson County. He was engaged in the csmetic business here.
