Jean McCorkle Holloway 

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, Mrs. Evie Jean 
McCorkle Holloway, 73, loving wife of 43 years to Thomas “Tommy” B. Holloway. 


Mrs. Holloway worked with Metropolitan Insurance for 25 years and with the 
Richmond County Board of Education as an accountant for 18 years. She was a 
member of The Hill Baptist Church and was an active member of Collins-Davis 
Mission Group. Mrs. Holloway was a secretary in the children’s department for 
many years. 


Family members in addition to her husband include nephews: Eddie McCorkle, 
Mike McCorkle (Pam), Wes Gardner (Lynn); nieces: Vivian Frew (Steve), Dianne 
Hall (Jim), Janet Marlowe (Steve), Eva Gardner, Dori Gardner, Fran Cooper 
(Jason); sister in laws: Irma McCorkle, Peggy McCorkle, Joan Gardner (Buddy). 
She is preceded in death by her parents: William and Ellie McCorkle; brothers: 
Watson McCorkle, Robert McCorkle, Rance McCorkle, Rudolph McCorkle, Edward 
McCorkle; and sisters: Katherine McCorkle Allen and Rubye McCorkle Wells. 


Funeral services were held Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel 
of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Ron Jones, Rev. Thomas Moon and Rev. Wes 
Gardner officiating. Burial was at 4:00 P.M. in Pine Grove United Methodist 
Church Cemetery in Lincolnton, Ga. Pallbearers were Wilson Folk, Steve Marlow, 
Jim Hall, Hawes Reed, Marvin Toulson, Neal Reed, Ben Gardner, Eddie McCorkle, 
and Daniel Curtis. 


Memorial contributions were made to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons 
Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909 or to the East Georgia Easter Seal Society, Inc., 
P.O. Box 2441, Augusta, GA 30903. 


The family received friends Wednesday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M. at 
Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706)
