Ernest J. Murphy

Ernest Jerry Murphy Sr, husband of Mrs. Isolen Boyd Murphy, 2636 Raymond Ave, 
died Saturday in an Augusta hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today from Platt's Chapel, with Dr. 
T.S. Boehm officiating.  Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park.

A lifelong resident of Augusta Mr. Murphy ran an automotive repair shop here 
for 50 years. He was the son of the late Michael Jerry Murphy and Emma Mobley 
and was a member of The Hill Baptist Church.

Mr. Murphy was one of the organizers and a lifetime member of the Richmond Post 
No 63 American Legion. He also was a member of George Walton Lodge No 699, R & 
AM and Camp Hancock Barracks No 900 Veterans of World War I and was a 32nd 
degree Mason in Scottish Rite Bodies.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Isolen Boyd Murphy' a son, E. Jerry Murphy 
Jr, North Augusta; a daughter Mrs. Marion M. O'Hara, Syracuse, N.Y; two 
brothers, Ira A. Murphy, Girard GA and N.C. Murphy, Augusta; two sisters, Mrs. 
Charles H. Pitts, Augusta, and Mrs. Earl Collins Louisville, KY; and six 
granddaughters.

Pallbearers will be Warren R. Woodward, Thomas C. Thompson, Aubrey F. Clark, 
Chester R. Allen, Charles E. Winn and James R. Bonds.

Honorary pallbearers will be Camp Hancock Barracks No 900 Veterans of World War 
I and Auxiliary; and Hary Markwalter, Henry Eubanks, Clarence Cohen, Sam Smoak, 
Bill Barker, Luther Harden, Troupe Morton, Haywood Byce, Ben Bruton, Norfleet 
Vick, and Harry Wiggins.
