Williamson, 25, died in Japan of gunshot wounds December 30, 1951, according to a telegram from the Department of Defense, to his mother, Mrs. Carrie L. Young of 1834 1/2 Pearl Ave. The telegram stated that a letter containing details of the death would follow. Corporal Williamson entered the service in August of 1949. He was a member of Battery D 250th AAA Gun Battalion of the National Guard. Prior to going overseas, he was stationed at Fort Custer, Michigan. In addition, to his mother , Corporal Williamson is survived by his sister-Mrs. H.R. Sanders of Augusta, one brother-Arthur Wesley Williamson of Augusta, four nieces and several aunts and uncles. Cpl Irvin Williamson Funeral arrangements will be announced later for Cpl Irving Williamson, 25, who was killed in Japan December 30, 1951. He was a resident of 1834 1/2 Pear avenue, Augusta. Surviving are his mother, Mrs Carrie L Young; a brother, Arthur Wesley Williamson; a sister, Mrs H.R. Sanders; his maternal grandmother, Mrs Emma F Young. Corporal Williamson enlisted August 14, 1949. After a year's training, he was shipped out to Japan. Augusta Chronicle, 1-29-1952, page 2-Obituary Cpl ER Williamson Funeral services will be held tomorrow at Central Christian Church at 4pm for Cpl Ervine Raymond Williamson, 25, 1834 1/2 Pearl Avenue, who died In Japan. The Rev J Glove Morris will officiate, and interment will be in Westview Cemetery, with military honors. Survivors include his mother, Mrs Carrie L Young; brother, Arthur Wesley Williamson; sister, Mrs HR Sanders; maternal grandmother, Mrs Emma F Young. All are from Augusta. Corporal Williamson was born in Columbia County, GA, but had lived in Augusta practically all of his life.
