I know it says Lincolnton, but he was from Augusta and died in Augusta. He didn't even live in Lincolnton anymore by this time. He was living in a nursing home. Augusta Chronicle, Aug 1986 Chester Spears, Sr. Lincolnton, GA.-Chester Wilson Spears, Sr., 74, Rt 2, died Monday in St. Joseph Hospital, Augusta. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7pm today at Platt's Funeral Home, Augusta. The funeral will be at 11am Wednesday at Platt's Funeral Home with the Rev. P. James Costigan officiating. Burial will be in Westover Memorial Park, Augusta. Mr. Spears was a native of Thomson and lived most of his life in Augusta. He was retired owner-operator of Spears Signs and a member of St. Mary On The Hill Catholic Church. He was also a member of Green Meadow Golf Club and Loyal Order of the Moose. Survivors include two sons, James E. Spears and Chester W. Spears, Jr., both of Augusta; three daughters, Patricia Murphy, Martinez, and Phyllis Holland-Badke and Sandra Boysworth, Augusta; and a sister, Mrs. Mickey Sones, N. Augusta. Pallbearers will be Michael Spears, Chris Spears, Bert Holland, Bob Boysworth, Joe Moog, and Bunny Purvis. Friends may call at the funeral home or at the residence of James E. Spears.
