He was 68 years of age. He was a native of Burke County but had been living in Augusta for 19 years. He was a member of St James Methodist Church and active in its affairs. Funeral services will be held at St James Methodist Church this afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev Wills M Jones officiating. Interment will be in West View cemetery. Pallbearers will be J Frank Hundley, Milton Owens, Jimmie Salters, Wilbur Smallwood, William Hatfield, and Coleman Harris. He is survived by his wife, Mrs Ester Baker Spears; two daughters, Mrs WA Hundley and Mrs OW Jones; for sons, Percy M Spears, Chester W Spears, George E Spears, John B Spears, all of Augusta; one stepson, EB Meadows of Thomson; 12 grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
