Utley Henry D. Utley, 82, 3126 Floyd Road, died Wednesday in a Richmond County hospital. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Poteet Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Rev. Lester Clark officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Utley was a native of Burke County, Ga., but lived in Richmond County most of his life. He was a Baptist, a retired carpenter and member of Carpenter’s Union Local 283. Survivors include his wife, Louise Lowe Utley, four daughters Mrs. Randy (Lavida) Croft, Tucson, Arizona, Edit McDonald, Belvedere, S.C., Mrs. T. L. (Melba) Paul, Harlem, Ga., and Mrs. Gene (Gloria) Mock, Augusta. One brother, Morgan C. Utley, Augusta, and five sisters: Pauline Lamkin, Augusta, Eula Mae Scott and Cornelia Waldhour, Savannah, Ga., Jean Findley, Miami, Fla., and Mary Kessler, Big Pine Key, Fla. Pallbearers will be Edward E. Mock, Jr., Henry Lee Mock, Steve Kicklighter, Michael Paul, Raymond Paul and Fred Swindell. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Carpenters Union Local 283. (Note: Henry Dawson “Buddy” Utley, born Jan. 4, 1898, was the son of Frederick and Etta McClellan Utley. His grandparents were Dawson and Susan Kelly McClellan and Henry Y. and Cornelia Hill Utley.)
