(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net September 24, 2011, 12:10 pm The Augusta Chronicle Dec 1993 Mr. Willie Wells Retired Maintenance Man Mr. Willie Willis Wells, 85, of 1843 Jenkins St., died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1993, at University Hospital. The funeral will be at 3pm Tuesday at Platt's Funeral home, Crawford Avenue, with the Rev. J. F. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Wells, a native of Matthews, had retired as a maintenance man for the Richmond County Board of Education. After retiring, he operated the Well's Lawn Mower Repair Shop. He was a member of Pauline Gospel Church, Davidson Lodge, and Free and Accepted Masons. Survivors include his wife, Allie "Al" Thompson Wells. Pallbearers will be Johnny Norton, Spence Norton, Herbert Norton, Brandon Cushman, Johnny Ray, Donnie Thompson, Steve Waters, and Bill Thompson. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 today at the funeral home. Additional Comments: Willie was born 24 Apr 1908 to James E. Wells and Martha Norton Wells. Georgia death certificate #050383.
