Leitner Wife Of Daniel Mc Cormick Died Sept 6, 1900 Organizer and for 43 years Superintendent of Linwood Sunday School, A member of the Church and a Christian Worker for 67 years. "Well done good and faithful servant" Additional Comments: This cemetery was once the cemetery of Linwood Sunday School and Methodist Church, in what was once, the community of Pinetucky, near Berzelia, Georgia. Catharine A. Leitner was responsible for the erection of the oldest known confederate monument in Georgia (erected June 1866, in memory of her students that went to fight for the confederacy), which still stands today within this cemetery. The U.S. Government purchased this area in 1941, for the purpose of expanding Camp Gordon, in the wake of World War ll. Fort Gordon maintains upkeep of all the cemeteries within it's boundries. This cemetery is listed as "Cemetery # 30, Leitner Cemetery". It is located in Training Area #35, at the intersection of Gibson and Jones Chapel Roads.
