Nixon and Miss Janet Walker, whose engagement was announced for June, secured an automobile Tuesday morning and startled Augusta society by going to the residence of a prominent minister and marrying. Miss Walker, the daughter of Col. W. H. T. Walker, is only 16 years old. Mrs. Nixon is a son of Slydell Nixon, well known in trade circles in two states. An effort was made to frustrate the marriage by the parents of both parties, but it was declared valid.
